FAQ

Requirements toggle arrow
  • Volunteers wishing to become outdoor program facilitators must be registered, background-checked members of Girl Scouts.
  • You must complete the required training before facilitating any program.
  • When looking at the training schedule, please remember that volunteer instructors run most of these courses, and trainings are offered based on their availability.
  • Some trainings are only available during certain seasons. For example, canoeing is only offered in the summer months due to its requirement to enter the lake water itself.
  • Climbing Wall requires facilitators to be physically fit enough to belay a climber up and down the wall. Facilitators also must have some level of comfort with tying knots.
Certifications and Renewal toggle arrow

Once you receive a certification for the following programs, you must submit a record of 8 hours of facilitation per certification each member year. Hours are due to be submitted by September 30 each year.

Certifications that require 8 hours of facilitation each membership year (Oct. 1 - Sept. 30):

  • Archery
  • Axe Throwing
  • Canoeing/SUP
  • Climbing Wall
  • Low Ropes Challenge Course

If you do not meet the 8 hour requirement, you will need to retake the training in order to renew your certification.
