Whether it’s your first time volunteering or you’ve mentored Girl Scouts for years, you deserve to be celebrated for your creativity, care, and dedication! Simply saying “Happy Volunteer Appreciation Month” doesn’t even begin to cut it. (But we’ll say it anyway: Happy Volunteer Appreciation Month!)
Adults who volunteer with Girl Scouts are making a positive difference in the lives of young people, which is definitely something to be grateful for in today’s world. Those supportive troop leaders, the cookie managers who bring their A-game, and the service unit volunteers who always come through are the heart and soul of the Girl Scout experience for our member families.
Research has shown that having even just one caring adult in a child’s life can significantly impact their development and well-being, leading to positive outcomes, success and resilience. Two-thirds of girls feel like being in Girl Scouts supports their mental health, and that is directly related to the amazing volunteers who mentor and guide them.
Throughout National Volunteer Month, we ask everyone — Girl Scouts, caregivers, staff and others impacted by the generous gifts of volunteerism — to say thank you to our GSCCC volunteers! Visit our Volunteer Appreciation Month page for resources you can use, including activities, printouts, social sharing images, and special e-cards from GSUSA.
Parents, caregivers, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and any other caring family members, neighbors, family friends, youth group leaders — anyone aged 18 and over who accepts the Girl Scout Promise and Law and who wants to make a difference in girls’ lives can volunteer with Girl Scouts.
