It’s been a busy week here at GSCCC as we celebrate the 112th anniversary of Girl Scouts! Among the activities was a night out for many Girl Scout supporters who attended “Cocktails for a Cause” on March 13 at Town Point Club in Norfolk. Many thanks to Town Point Club for hosting and sponsoring the event, which included rooms with a magnificent view of the water, delightful hors d’oeuvres, and creating and serving a special anniversary cocktail. Members of the Council’s Philanthropy Committee, led by board member Laura Morgan, organized the event to help with fundraising for camperships.
Longtime supporter and special guest Congressman Bobby Scott also attended and helped welcome guests. When speaking at the event about the importance of Girl Scouting and other organized activities for today’s youth, who are facing a mental health crisis, he said, “These activities teach important life skills and are the foundation they need.”

At the event’s closing, GSCCC CEO Tracy Keller thanked those assembled for coming out and reminded guests to support the next generation of Girl Scouts through the Girl Scout Cookie Program.
“Please be sure to lift the next generation of Girl Scouts to success through your support,” she said. “Purchase a box or two of Girl Scout Cookies and ask that Girl Scout where the proceeds will be going. Will it help her travel, go to camp or something else? Learning skills such as decision making, money management, people skills, business ethics and communications are all part of the Cookie Program.”
Tracy also offered an invitation to join her for “Camp is Calling,” the annual online auction to support our camps, which runs from April 28 - May 4.
