A shout out to Troop 1468 in Grafton, Virginia for promoting friendship in their community! As their Girl Scout Bronze Award project, the Girl Scouts worked with the principal of Grafton Middle School, Mrs. Anthony, to create the Friendship Garden, an outdoor space focused on an anti-bullying message. The girls gathered and painted rocks with messages of kindness, then they worked with a master gardener to place flowers and shrubs. They also refurbished benches that were already at the site, and created a large welcoming stone that explains the significance of the garden and invites students to take a rock or gift the garden with a new one!

Decorating rocks with positive messages became very popular during the pandemic and continues to grab attention by sprinkling much needed good will in the community. As we all know, sometimes a simple message of love and compassion can spark joy and brighten someone’s entire day. Spreading messages of kindness through rock painting is one of the activities in the GSCCC Spread Kindness patch program; check it out!
Congratulations, Troop 1468!
