Nationwide, many educators spend hundreds of their own dollars annually to help bring their visions as educators to life and ensure the success of their students. This cost often goes unreimbursed, according to research by the National Center for Education Statistics.
“I noticed that our teachers were always asking for supplies because the school didn’t cover the cost,” Naomi said. “I spoke to the principal about my idea, then made posters and had it shared on the morning news and in the school parent newsletter. A bunch of students brought in things like pencils, pens, glue, staples, and more. At the end of the collection period, I brought everything home to split into six bins so they could be available in each of the staff rooms.”
Naomi’s project helped to ensure that educators, and ultimately her peers, have access to the supplies they need to excel in the classroom.
Congratulations, Naomi!
