Get outside and participate in a hands-on project to track sea level rise as you become a citizen scientist in your community! Catch the King (CTK) is an annual tide mapping event that recruits volunteers to collect flooding data during the Perigean king tides-the highest tides of the year. At this program, Girl Scouts will learn what a citizen scientist does, practice making observations, and learn how to help CTK to collect real data in October!
Note: While greatly inspired by the retiring Journey program, this event will not meet the requirements of Think Like a Citizen Scientist.
Not a drop-off event for Daisy through Cadette: This event requires adult supervision from a caregiver or troop leaders providing proper ratio. Adults, Seniors, and Ambassadors will need a cell phone with mobile data to practice logging tide mapping in the CTK app.
You will receive a reminder email with final details during the week prior to this event. If you do not receive anything by the Wednesday before this event, please reach out to CustomerCare@gsccc.org.
Location: Great Bridge Lock Park, Chesapeake, VA
Registration deadline: September 9
