FRANKLIN — S’mores, Stories, and Snowglobes was a recent community event created to support area families living in the Franklin Farms community that was formerly known as Southampton Meadows Mobile Home Park.
An Early Childhood Western Tidewater (ECWT) news release noted that the event was orchestrated by several community organizations, including ECWT in partnership with Big Hearts Small Blessings, the City of Franklin Department of Parks and Recreation, Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast, Southampton County Sheriff’s Office, and Speaklife LLC.
Daniela Ragsdale, community troop manager for Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast, led a snow globe craft activity and spoke with families to assess interest in launching a local Girl Scout Community Troop.
Community troops are free, grant-funded programs designed to remove barriers to participation by bringing the full Girl Scout experience directly into neighborhoods. Led by trained staff, these troops offer regular meetings, hands-on activities, opportunities to earn badges, participation in the Girl Scout Cookie Program, and special events — all at no cost to families.
