Join us for this all-day training in outdoor skills at Camp Darden. We will cover basic outdoor camping and gear, outdoor cooking and Leave No Trace. Participants will leave with plenty of tips to help Girl Scouts take the lead in planning their next outdoor overnight. All food and supplies will be provided for this training. The optional overnight will include night activities to do with your girls, additional fire skills and Girl Scout ceremonies/traditions. * Camping: Discover what it takes for a day hike or overnight trip with your troop, on any GSCCC site, in a cabin or tent along with similar off-site camping areas. * Outdoor Cooking: We will cover propane stoves, Dutch ovens, foil packs, stick cooking and box ovens. You will also learn fire building and fire safety. * Leave No Trace: Learn how to plan ahead for your troop trips while keeping the environment happy and healthy. *This course will take the place of ODI/ODII. If you have had ODI you may still take your troop cabin camping, but if you want to stay in tents/use other cooking methods you will need to take this course. If you have had ODII, you do not need to take this course.
