Girl Scouts of the Colonial Coast values all adult members and recognizes the contribution they make in developing girl leaders. Girl Scout Adult Awards recognize our volunteers and other adult members who go above and beyond to make a real difference, both for the girls we serve and for each other.

The Honor Pin recognizes an individual's exemplary service in support of delivering the Girl Scout Leadership Experience; this support has had measurable impact on two or more geographic areas of service to reach and surpass the mission-delivery goals of the council.

The Appreciation Pin also recognizes an individual's exemplary service in support of delivering the GSLE, but for this pin the impact is within one geographic area of service.

The Thanks Badge honors an individual whose ongoing commitment, leadership, and service have had an exceptional, measurable impact on meeting the mission-delivery goals and priorities of the entire council or the entire Girl Scout Movement.

The Thanks Badge II honors a previous Thanks Badge award recipient who has continued to provide exemplary service in a leadership role which resulted in a measurable impact benefitting the entire Girl Scout Movement.

The Volunteer of Excellence award recognizes volunteers who have contributed outstanding service while partnering directly with girls in any pathway to implement the Girl Scout Leadership Experience through use of the National Program Portfolio or who have contributed outstanding service in support of the council's mission delivery to girl and adult members.

The Volunteer Years of Service Pin recognizes an adult member registered with Girl Scouts of the U.S.A. for her/his years of active volunteer service at five-year intervals (5, 10, 15, etc.). This pin differs from the numeral guard in that it represents the number of years an adult volunteer has actively provided service, whereas the numeral guard recognizes years of membership.

The Community Award recognizes an organization or an individual in the community who has supported Girl Scouting over the past year. Community Award certificates signed by the CEO may be requested at any time. Please allow up to four weeks from the request date to receive the certificate.

A Letter of Endorsement is required for Thanks Badge, Thanks Badge II, Honor Pin, Appreciation Pin, and Volunteer of Excellence awards.

Award submissions are accepted on a rolling basis; for recognition submit by May 31.

Famous Formers are local Girl Scout alums who are leaders in their field. These women serve as role models for girls today – the future leaders of tomorrow.

Corporate Champion of the Year award honors a company that exemplifies our mission and supports girls.

April is National Volunteer Appreciation Month!

We know we’re not alone when we say we love our volunteers. When asked about their troop leaders, 86% of Girl Scouts said their leader makes them feel important and 94% of parents/caregivers say their Girl Scout’s leader made their family feel like part of a community.
