As a volunteer, you'll introduce girls to new experiences that show them they're capable of more than they ever imagined.
You'll be their cheerleader, guide and mentor, helping them develop skills and confidence that will last long after the meeting is over. Imagine the smiles, the excitement, the memories made – those are the moments you'll share at Girl Scouts.
Volunteering with Girl Scouts also gives you an opportunity to work with other adults. Share your expertise or serve in a support role. Meet others who share the passion for building leaders and make lifelong friends.

Troop Leader/Assistant Leader
As a troop volunteer, you’ll serve as a partner and role model to girls. You’ll also work closely with co-volunteers, and you’ll be supported along the way by experienced local volunteers and Council staff. You will make a profound difference in the lives of “your girls," and they will change your life too!
There are many ways to assist a troop. Help girls at troop meetings or chaperone field trips and outings. Assist girls with activities and ensure their safety. Serve as troop treasurer, product sales coordinator, first aider or trip/camping coordinator.
Work with girls on projects that can last for a day or several weeks, whatever fits your schedule. Help them earn a badge or learn about a specific topic, like healthy living, financial literacy or Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM). Let us know your interests and your availability, and we will find the right fit for you.
Camp & Outdoors
Share your love of the outdoors with girls! Take them on hiking, biking and climbing adventures or serve as a boating, archery or challenge course facilitator. Certification classes are available for many of these activities.
Share Skills or Expertise
We are always looking for adults who can share a specific skill or expertise through occasional workshops and events. Let us know what you have to offer, and we’ll contact you with opportunities to help.
Help troop leaders plan high-quality activities for girls that incorporate Girl Scout program materials.
Help volunteers and girls plan larger-scale events for different occasions throughout the year, like cookie rallies, Girl Scout birthday, award ceremonies and bridging ceremonies.
Be part of the nation’s largest girl-led business and leading financial literacy and entrepreneurial program for girls! Help coordinate the product sales program, including training and supporting volunteers and parents.
Recruitment & Registration
Bring the Girl Scout experience to more girls and volunteers by helping with informational tables at schools and community events and assisting new members with the registration process.
Provide guidance to troop leaders for managing troop bank accounts and submitting required financial paperwork.
Provide orientation training and serve as a coach to help new volunteers get started on their Girl Scout journeys.
Create opportunities to recognize and thank the hardworking and dedicated volunteers who make a difference in the lives of girls every day.
Facilitate classes for volunteers or assist with the creation of new learning opportunities.
Represent Girl Scouts at community events and help tell the Girl Scout story by reporting about the great things that girls do every day.
Help to promote the Family Partnership campaign by educating families and planning fund raising events.
Can’t make a long term commitment, but still want to help? We can notify you when help is needed at special girl, volunteer or fundraising events. We also have opportunities for periodic reception, data entry and administrative support. Let us know your interests and we’ll find the right match for you.
Training is offered for all volunteer positions. Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age and must complete an application and screening process, which includes a criminal background check. Volunteers are also asked to register as a member in Girl Scouts of the USA (GSUSA). Registration costs $15 and goes to GSUSA to pay for accident insurance covering participation in approved Girl Scout activities, program research and resources, training and services to Councils.
