Make it a HIT and FIT Year with
Girl Scouts!
It’s All About The Girls &
Healthy Living
HIT . . .
every girl, everywhere. Girl
Scouts of the USA is the world’s
preeminent organization for
girls - - all girls. For 95
years, we have established
representation in many
communities nationally and
internationally. Our Girl Scout
Leadership Development program
is a proven successful model for
building girls of courage,
confidence, and character.
Consequently, we have earned the
respect and admiration of every
community in which we serve.
Because we are the leading
advocate for girls and their
well-being, we recognize how
important it is for girls to
develop healthy life skills. We
are reaching out to every girl,
everywhere, and giving girls
opportunities that will help
them to stay FIT in mind, body,
and spirit.
Girl Scouts understand how to
address complex physical and
emotional issues related to
girls’ health from kindergarten
through the end of high school.
OUR GOALS
·
To create and strengthen
opportunities to promote girls’
healthy choices
·
To develop resources and
sustainable community partners
·
To facilitate dialogue and
provide forums that reflect
girls’ voices
FIT . . .
every girl, everywhere. Every
girl deserves to live a healthy
life, physically through healthy
eating and fitness, and
emotionally through the
development of a strong
self-image and positive
decision-making. Girl Scouts
helps build healthy girls and
encourages them to experience
community well-being by taking
action and connecting with
others, feeding their spirits.
We are embracing the holistic
view of health - - mind, body,
and spirit - - and encouraging
girls to grow into healthy,
well-balanced women leaders.
Girls are on a journey of
discovering in Girl Scouts –
having opportunities to
understand themselves, their
values, and using their
knowledge and skills to explore
the world. They know what it
means to connect and care about
others through team work and
opportunities to take action in
their communities. These are all
very important developmental
steps in forming a healthy life
attitude.
This year, expect to see a new
focus on well-being for girls
and adult members. There’s
plenty to see and do as a Girl
Scout in the Girl Scout Council
of Colonial Coast that will help
you towards developing healthy
living habits.
Attention leaders and
advisors: take time to look
at Girl Scout handbooks and
resources for activities that
will lead to earning Girl Scout
awards. There are a wide variety
of Brownie Try-its, Junior
badges and Cadette & Senior
Interest Project Patches that address
healthy living.
