Camps
Camping
is a proud part of our Girl Scout
heritage and Girl Scouts have been
camping since the organization's
beginning. The Girl Scout Council of
Colonial Coast prides itself in
offering a multitude of both outdoor
and indoor camp experiences. There
are many different ways that girls
may participate in camping. They may
decide that they want to spend a
week at one of our resident camps,
or they may want to try a day camp
at a local museum. Whatever camping
experience a girl may choose, she is
sure to walk away with memories that
will last a lifetime.
Safety First! All of
our camps uphold state health and
safety regulations, as well as Girl
Scouts of the USA policies and
standards. We are committed to
health, safety and risk management.
We know that parents are placing
their most precious possession
(their child!) in our care. The
safety and well-being of all girls
is our top priority. Our Camps
adhere to the high safety standards
set by Girl Scouts of the USA, and
is licensed and inspected by the
state department of public health.
Day Camps
For Grades 1 -
12, Day camps are perfect for
first-time campers. Day campers
arrive each morning with a packed
lunch and go home each evening with
stories and accomplishments. Each
week of day camp has a unique theme
and girls will complete activities
related to the theme. Day camps are
held at four different locations
across the council.

Resident Camps
Resident camp is a
unique camping experience. Camp
programs are designed to ensure your
camper has FUN while building
Courage, Confidence and Character in
a safe environment. Girls have the
option of attending camp for one
week, two weeks or short, mini camps
lasting three days and two nights.
Camp is set up like
a village especially for girls. This
village has a series of
neighborhoods, called units. What
neighborhood campers sleep in
depends on their age and program
selected. Girls sleep in either
platform tents or cabins with adult
counselors nearby.
While at camp, girls
will enjoy activities such as
swimming, cooking, crafts hiking,
songs, games and making new friends.
Meals are served family style in the
camp's dining hall.
So, who can attend
camp?? Any girl entering the 1st -
12th grade may attend Resident Camp
Skimino. NEW this year, girls
entering 7th - 12th grades can
attend the new teen only Resident
Camp Darden.

Camp Skimino is accredited by the
American Camp Association. ACA
Accreditation means that the Camp
Skimino cares enough to undergo a
thorough (over 300 standards) review
of its operation - from staff
qualifications and training to
emergency management. The American
Camp Association collaborates with
experts from The American Academy of
Pediatrics, the American Red Cross,
and other youth service agencies to
assure that current practices at the
camp reflect the most up-to-date,
research-based standards in camp
operation. Camps and ACA form a
partnership that promotes summers of
growth and fun in an environment
committed to safety.
