Scholarships

Are you a Gold Award recipient or a college bound Girl Scout looking for financial assistance? Scholarships are a great way to get recognized for all of your hard work through leadership, community service and academic activities. This scholarship list will be updated as more scholarships become available.

"Most Valuable Student" scholarship is sponsored by the Elks National Foundation. Applicants need to be a U.S. citizen and a senior in high school who intend to pursue a full-time four-year degree at a U.S. college or university. Applicants will also be judged on financial need, leadership and scholarship. The Elks National Foundation has provided numerous scholarships throughout the years.

Prudential Spirit of Community Awards scholarship is sponsored by the National Association of Secondary School Principles. This award was created to recognize students in middle and high school grades who have demonstrated outstanding community service. Violet Richardson Award

Soroptimist International of Hampton Roads is promoting an awards program targeted at young women who make the community and world a better place.  The Violet Richardson Award honors young women between the ages of 14-17 for volunteer work in the community.

begins at the local club level and honors the recipient and volunteer organization she chooses each with a $250 award.  Winners will become eligible for one of 29 regional awards of $1,000 with a matching award to their volunteer organization.  One finalist will be chosen from the regional winners to receive a $2,5000 award, again with a matching amount going to their volunteer organization.  The deadline for this year's scholarship is December 1, 2007.  For more information visit http://www.soroptimist.org.
