Many Ways to Give        My Family Shares Patch

We want to reach every girl everywhere. With your gift to Girl Scouting we can accomplish just that. A gift to the Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast is a gift for girls – one that will help them realize their dreams and become tomorrow’s leaders. With your generous gift, our Girl Scouts will grow into active and engaged members of our community and develop their potential in business, sports, government, science, education, and the arts.

By making a gift to the Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast, you enable us to make an immediate difference in the lives of girls. Approximately 85 cents of every dollar you give goes directly toward our program initiatives and helps girls throughout our Council grow strong.

Girl Scouting in Leaps & Bounds: A Fund & Friend Maker Event featuring Dominique Dawes

Sharon Laderberg, the Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast development director, presented Olympic Gold Medalist and uniquely ME! national spokesperson Dominique Dawes with a signed photo from Troop #6004.  Dawes spoke to over 100 Girl Scouts at Excalibur Gym in Virginia Beach on Thursday, February 28, an event hosted by special interest Troop #6004.  The eight girls in the troop are all gymnast and meet at Excalibur. Dawes was visiting Hampton Roads as a guest of the Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast and also addressed volunteers and community friends at a breakfast that was held on Friday, February 29 at the Hampton Convention Center. Dawes is a national spokesperson for the Girl Scout self-esteem program titled uniquely ME! She travels the country speaking to Girl Scouts about her experiences and inspiring them to develop a sense of individualism, leadership, and self-confidence. Though Dawes never had the time to be a Girl Scout when she was younger, she strongly supports the mission of the Girl Scouts.

Sharon Laderberg, the Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast development director, accepted a check of $2,000 from Baljit Singh Gill, Warwick Rotary Club president.  The funds will be used to serve girls in Newport News.  The club has supported Girl Scouts since 1999.

Many Ways to Give

There are many ways to give. Gifts can be made:

Online

Through our secure online donation service, donations can be made to our Council or to specific Tribute Funds.

By Mail

Contributions can be made by mailing a check along with a contribution form or a letter outlining the purpose of the gift to:

Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast
Fund Development
912 Cedar Road
Chesapeake, VA 23322

By Fax

You can also print, complete and fax a contribution form directly to the Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast at (757) 547-1872.

Family Partnership

Make a contribution to the Family Partnership. Your gift helps offset the cost of offering our Girl Scout Leadership Development Program to one girl for one year in the Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast. We require no other fees other than $10 for registration. Girls have boundless opportunities to develop the life skills they will use as adults in Girl Scouting. Through annual giving you can make the choice to give $25, $50, $100, $365 (a dollar a day) or more. The average cost to serve a girl in our Council per year is approximately $225. We don’t have set fees like other organizations, so please use this opportunity to give what you can.

Matching Gifts

Many employees take part in Matching Gift Programs – your donation of time or money can sometimes be doubled at no cost to you! Contact your company’s human resources department to find out if your company participates. If so, complete the employee portion of the Matching Gift form supplied by your employer. Send your contribution and the completed form to the Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast and we’ll take care of the rest. Now you’ve doubled your donation!

Remembering Evelyn Schmidt

(from left to right: Linda Sue Aten; Evelyn Schmidt)

It takes a special person to be labeled as a “legend,” but those who knew Evelyn Schmidt say that’s just what she’ll always be. She was a dedicated volunteer who always had her mind on the safety and well-being of the girls she led. She had her hand in grooming some of our finest current Girl Scout employees. Her memory will live on in the lives of those she’s taught. Evelyn Schmidt passed away on December 21, 2007. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her. It was one of her wishes that donations be made in her memory to the Girl Scout Council of Colonial Coast. You can make your donation by filling out this Contribution Form. The money donated will go to Girl Scouts throughout the council. Thank you!
