Workshop Descriptions

Session 1 – Friday, Feb 1, 7-9pm

Chocolate Creations – Make chocolate delights with an expert confectioner and take these fun projects back to the girls.  Fee: $15

Troop Paperwork and Trip Planning (NLIII) - An orientation for adults who will be accompanying girls on activities away from their troop meeting place. Learn to make safe plans for great age-level appropriate adventures (planning, permission, progression, and prevention.) Transportation responsibilities and a logical paper trail are discussed as well as ideas on how to organize your troop paperwork. This course is suggested three to four months after you have started meeting with your troop. Fee: none

“Clay”ful Creations – Learn to create crafts from different kinds of clay. Fee: $4

Duct Tape Crafts – You can do anything with duct tape – even make crafts! Fee: $3.50

Sewing Made Easy – Easy sewing skills you can teach!  Bring an old pair of jeans - if you can’t find any at home, try a thrift shop.  Fee: $3

Theme Camping – Learn fun themes and activities for camping fun. Fee: none

Session 2 – Saturday, Feb 2, 9-10:45am

Great Games – Play easy games that you can do with girls. Fee: none

Nature Crafts – Crafts with Mother Nature in mind. Fee: $3

SWAPS for Beginners – Special Whatchamacallits Affectionately Pinned Somewhere! for new leaders.  Fee: $5 

Stamping Jewelry – “Stamping” in a whole new way.  Fee: $3.50

Outdoor Cooking without Fire – Learn to cook without fire to try at your next cookout or campout.  Fee: none

Session 3 – Saturday, Feb 2, 11am-12:30pm

Creative Card Making – Create beautiful cards for all occasions. Fee: $5

Ceremonies – Learn a variety of ceremonies and how to get girls involved. Fee: none

Toney Boney – Volunteers are such giving people, and usually take care of everyone around them.  Take time to take care of yourself and learn how to prevent Osteoporosis. Fee: none

Lashing – Use rope and nature to create! $5

Beyond the Book – Learn fun ideas for activities to do with your troop beyond the age-level badge books and manuals. Fee: none

Session 4 – Saturday, Feb 2, 1:30-3:30pm

Songs – Learn a variety of songs to sing with the girls! Fee: none

Advanced SWAPS – Learn more SWAPS for the experienced crafters. Fee: $5

Scrapbook It – Learn creative ways to save memories. Fee: $5

Crocheting – Quick and easy projects.  Fee: $5

PVC Troop Equipment – Beyond lashing, make troop furniture you can use again and again.  Fee: $5

Beyond Bullying - Recognize signs of bullying and help create a positive, cooperative group environment through games, group discussion, mentoring, and other character building strategies.  This hands-on workshop will enable participants to create an emotional and physically safe environment for their troop.  Fee: none

Space will be available for volunteers who wish to stay overnight at Camp Skimino.  Dinner and breakfast will not be provided but can be purchased at area restaurants.  No outdoor fires or cooking will be permitted.  Sites must be returned to original condition before Saturday morning workshops.  Space will also be available on the lower level of the Enmeier Center.
