Another Successful Year for the 2007

Girl Scout Helping Hands Food Drive!
which took place on Saturday, October 20, 2007, 9 a.m. - Noon

Thanks goes out to all the girls, volunteers, staff, and our community partners, for supporting this annual Council community service project.  I hope all of you viewed the public service announcement that aired on WAVY TV-10, saw the ads that appeared in the Virginian Pilot and Daily Press, and caught a glimpse of the promotion posters in Farm Fresh stores.  Farm Fresh also sponsored collection bags which were inserted in the newspapers on October 13, 2007 - an extra motivator for the public to donate - and Girl Scouts blanketed communities with door hanger alerts (thanks to a donation from Alltel).  The result - 122,000 pounds of food collected the day of the drive and MORE is coming in each day at Farm Fresh stores.

Thanks everyone for pitching in and giving a helping hand!  This project not only helps thousands in our community but sends a strong message - Girl Scouts make the world a better place.
