Chair of the Board:
Sandra J. DeLoatch Dr. Sandra DeLoatch is the Dean of the School of Science and Technology at Norfolk State University and former Chair to the Computer Science Department. She received her Ph.D. from Indiana University, her M.S. from the College of William and Mary, her M.A. from the University of Michigan, and her B.S. from Howard University. She is a member of the Board of Zoning Appeals for the City of Suffolk and a member and past treasurer for Alpha Kappa Sorority, Inc in Virginia Beach. Dr. DeLoatch is a lifetime Girl Scout. This is her eighth year as a member of the board and her first year as board chair. |
Chair Elect:
Melissa L. Burroughs Melissa Burroughs is the Chief Lending Officer for Old Point National Bank. She received her M.B.A. from Old Dominion University and her B.A. from Virginia Wesleyan College. She is a certified financial planner. Melissa is a member of the Hampton Roads Association for Commercial Real Estate and is director of the Roosevelt Gardens Civic League. She is a lending committee member for the Tidewater Business Financing Corp and is a member of Omicron Delta Kappa and Sigma Beta Delta. Melissa has served on the board since 2006 and previously held the position of vice-chair. |
Vice Chair: David W. Thomas
David Thomas is a former Dollar Tree Executive. He is also a member of the St. Gregory School and the Virginia Stage Company boards. David is a lifetime Girl Scout. He has served on our board since 2004 and has previously held the position of treasurer. |
Secretary: Denise L. Frey Denise Frey is a retired Girl Scout professional. She received her A.D. in education from Harrisburg Community College and her A.D. in business from Widener University. She is the manager of the U12 soccer team and is a committee member for the VA Rush Soccer Club. She is also a committee member for Boy Scout Troop 12. Denise is a lifetime Girl Scout who has served on our board for four years. |
Treasurer: Maria I. Negron Maria Negron is a CPA with Goodman & Company, L.L.P. She received her B.B.A. in accounting from Catholic University of Puerto Rico. She is the treasurer of an investment club for women and is on the financial counsel for the Hampton Roads Hispanic Chamber of Commerce. She is a former Girl Scout leader and has served on the board since 2007. |
